What is Acupuncture?

Acupuncture is a process of inserting fine needles in specific points (acupoints) of the human body in specific patterns, and manipulating the needles by twisting, pushing and pulling motions to stimulate the body’s natural ability. The selection of accupoints and the manipulation techniques are based on the diagnosis of diseases and/or disorders. No substance is injected into the body. However, herbs may be used to enhance the efficiency of the treatment.

How Does Acupuncture Work?

Traditional Chinese Medicine believes that health problems arise when harmony of the human body is disturbed. There are complex channels, as a web, distributed in the body, which are sensitive to diseases caused by the lack of harmony in the body. Acupuncture can be applied at specific points on these channels to adjust and stimulate the “immune” system of the body. Effective techniques have been developed over 4000 years and used in Acupuncture to restore balance to the body.

Acupuncture when properly applied, provides an effective alternative treatment to many diseases and/or disorders. Acupuncture adopts a different methodology from common medical treatments. A Wei Wellness significant relief from these maladies can usually be achieved in a few treatments.

Depending on the manipulation techniques selected according to different diseases, a dull ache, a shocking sensation, warmth, cooling, distending, or heavy feelings may be experienced. These are all considered “good” feelings, reflecting the efficiency of the treatment.
